1980 Gulfstar Sailmaster
Description
MANATEE offers a compelling invitation to make the cruising life your own, with room to live comfortably and equipment that lets you spend more time exploring. Designed by Vince Lazzara, the Gulfstar 47 Sailmaster carries the pedigree of a pioneer in American fiberglass yacht building who helped develop Columbia Yachts before founding Gulfstar. Her raised salon, center cockpit and generous accommodations reflect the lasting appeal of a yacht designed with life aboard in mind.
Inside, expansive salon windows frame the changing seascape, while 6 ft 7 in of headroom and warm wood finishes create a bright, spacious setting for entertaining and life aboard. Teak-and-holly soles add traditional yacht character, while the spacious down galley keeps meal preparation separate from the main living area. Two private sleeping cabins, two heads and two separate showers give owners and guests room to settle in, with generous storage for extended stays.
Life at anchor is supported by 1,100 watts of solar, a 400 Ah lithium house bank, Mastervolt charging and inverter equipment, and a 7.5 kW Onan generator. A Cruise RO watermaker, Norcold upright refrigerator/freezer and General Electric washer and dryer bring useful independence and everyday convenience aboard. Two reverse-cycle climate-control units add comfort across the seasons, making Manatee an appealing home base for a winter in the islands or a season spent discovering new cruising grounds.
On deck, the center cockpit is complemented by a dodger and bimini. Her masthead ketch rig includes a mainsail and a 120 percent furling genoa, while a 5 ft 6 in draft broadens the choice of cruising destinations. An encapsulated keel, skeg-hung rudder, 130 hp Perkins diesel, fuel-polishing system and substantial ground tackle complement her cruising inventory. For owners planning far-reaching adventures, Manatee brings together the living space, storage and onboard systems that matter when a yacht becomes home.
