1998 Grand Banks Europa

1998 Grand Banks 46 Europa — Summer Wind

Exceptional care. Comfortable living. Ready to cruise.

Summer Wind’s gleaming hull tells the story of a boat that has been cherished. Kept under cover in Rhode Island for 17 years by a prior owner, this 1998 Grand Banks 46 Europa retains a finish that may have you wondering whether she has just left the factory. Her current owners have continued a consistent high level of care.

Their attention to detail shows throughout the vessel. Substantial recent work includes a complete bottom refurbishment in 2026, extensive Caterpillar cooling-system service in 2023, updated Garmin electronics, new flybridge canvas, and improvements to refrigeration and electrical systems. Summer Wind combines an unusually well-preserved appearance with the equipment and accommodations appreciated on comfortable extended cruising.

Powered by twin Caterpillar 3208TA diesels with approximately 2,300 hours, and equipped with a Westerbeke 6.0 BTDA generator showing approximately 947 hours, she is ready for her next owners’ cruising plans.

The Europa advantage

The Europa design makes excellent use of its outdoor space. The extended flybridge shelters the side decks and aft deck, providing welcome protection from sun and rain. Higher bulwarks add a reassuring sense of security when moving about the boat, tending lines, or bringing guests aboard.

The covered aft deck becomes a natural extension of the saloon—a place for morning coffee, an afternoon in the shade, or an evening overlooking the anchorage. Sliding saloon doors connect these spaces, while a door beside the lower helm gives the operator convenient access to the side deck.

Molded steps lead to the spacious flybridge, where multiple seating areas, an L-shaped settee, and a table provide room to relax and entertain. The extended upper deck also accommodates tender handling with a crane. A bimini, wind deflector, and new canvas enhance this inviting outdoor living area.

Comfort for a weekend or a season aboard

Inside, Summer Wind offers a welcoming saloon with a portside L-shaped settee and additional seating to starboard. Storage beneath the seating, generous cabinetry, and a bar cabinet with Raritan icemaker make the space practical for everyday living and entertaining. A sliding screen door welcomes fresh air, and a Fusion stereo with an added subwoofer provides onboard entertainment.

The galley keeps the cook connected to the main living area and features Corian counters and sink, a Princess three-burner electric stove with oven, an LG microwave, and undercounter refrigeration. A Seagull water filter with a dedicated faucet and new Seafrost refrigeration components were installed in 2023. A five (5) cubic foot freezer on the flybridge expands provisioning capacity for longer cruises.

The owner’s stateroom features a walkaround queen berth, extensive drawer and lighted hanging locker storage, two portlights, and an overhead hatch. Its ensuite head includes a VacuFlush toilet and separate stall shower.

Guests enjoy two extra-long single berths, generous drawers, and a lighted hanging locker. A second head with VacuFlush toilet and shower, along with an onboard washer/dryer, adds the convenience that makes extended stays aboard comfortable.

Equipped for the journey

Upper and lower helm stations provide flexibility in changing weather. Navigation electronics updated in 2020 include:

• Two Garmin GPSMAP 1242XSV displays at the flybridge.
• Garmin GPSMAP 1242XSV and GPSMAP 942XS displays at the lower helm.
• Garmin GHC20 autopilot controls at both stations.
• Garmin VHF radios.
• Raymarine anemometers.
• Garmin AIS 800.

Summer Wind has made numerous offshore trips under her current owners and offers an appealing platform for coastal cruising, Bahamas adventures, or life aboard. For buyers considering the Great Loop, her 23 foot mast lowers to 14' 7" with mast and bimini down.
