2002 Transpacific Marine Eagle 53
“Sojouner”
Description
“SOJOURNER” is a stunning example of the highly regarded Transpacific Marine Eagle 53, a pilothouse trawler launched in 2002 and revered among knowledgeable cruisers for its exceptional blend of seaworthiness, long-range capability, and liveaboard comfort. This particular vessel has been lovingly maintained and continuously upgraded by her current owners, who have prepared her to meet the demands of modern cruising while preserving her classic, timeless appeal. From her protective Portuguese bridge to her robust engineered hull, *Sojourner* is designed to inspire confidence and deliver her next owners safely and comfortably to any destination on the horizon, whether it be a nearby anchorage or a distant, far-flung coast.
Powered by twin Cummins 450hp diamonds series diesel engines with approximately 2,170 hours, “Sojourner” offers the rare versatility of a true semi-displacement hull. Owners can enjoy the fuel efficiency of traditional displacement cruising at 8-10 knots or, when the need for speed arises, push her onto a plane and cruise effortlessly at 16-18 knots, topping out near 21 knots. This performance is complemented by a comprehensive suite of recent mechanical updates, ensuring reliability and peace of mind. Highlights include a fully rebuilt Kabola hydronic diesel heating system with a new burner (2023), a fresh water purification system (2023), replaced engine alternators (2023), and a rebuilt Lewmar windlass (2022), underscoring a commitment to proactive maintenance that is immediately evident throughout.
The interior of “Sojourner” is a warm and welcoming sanctuary of handcrafted teak. Rich, satin-finished teak joinery adorns the cabin sides and joinery work, while classic teak and holly soles run throughout the salon, galley, and staterooms. The vessel offers a highly functional two-stateroom, two-head layout that maximizes space and privacy. The master stateroom, located aft, and the forward VIP guest stateroom both feature island queen berths and ensuite heads with stall showers, providing true owner/guest equality and luxurious accommodation for extended cruising with family or friends. The main salon is the heart of the vessel, featuring an inviting L-shaped settee with a custom hi-lo teak table, and a beautifully appointed U-shaped galley to port, complete with gleaming granite countertops and full-size home-style appliances.
Command and control are elegantly addressed from three distinct stations, a hallmark of the Eagle 53 design. The enclosed and elevated pilothouse serves as the primary navigation center, providing 360-degree visibility and direct access to the side decks. Here, the captain will appreciate the upgraded Furuno electronics package, seamlessly integrated with a TimeZero navigational system. From the pilothouse, one can step directly into the spacious flybridge, which offers a second full helm station with a bimini top and generous seating for guests to enjoy the open air and panoramic views. A third control station in the cockpit provides invaluable assistance during close-quarters maneuvering and docking, especially when handling lines single-handedly.
Beyond her inherent strengths, *Sojourner* distinguishes herself through an impressive inventory of cruising gear and recent upgrades that render her a true turn-key opportunity. Her equipment list reads like a cruiser's wish list, including a powerful Northern Lights 8kW generator, a 2019 Mercury RIB tender with a 2014 Yamaha outboard, a water maker, a powerful bow thruster, and a state-of-the-art Wi-Fi booster for staying connected offshore. With a recent bottom job featuring advanced Shark Skin anti-fouling paint (2022) and a meticulous maintenance history, this Eagle 53 is actively cruising and ready to continue her journey. Named *Sojourner*, she has been a cherished home for her owners and now awaits a new steward to guide her on the next leg of her voyage.
