“APRES SKI”
Description
Featuring CAT C18 engines, bow and stern thrusters, elegant, custom beds, refreshed teak flooring throughout, updated galley countertops, Starlink and Sonos, she offers refined living with thoughtful upgrades throughout.
APRES SKI is a 2008 72' Grand Banks Aleutian Raised Pilothouse that combines classic yacht styling, thoughtful engineering, and generous accommodations. Powered by twin Caterpillar C18 engines and equipped with stabilizers and bow and stern thrusters, she offers comfortable cruising with added control when maneuvering. An extensive series of owner improvements from 2023 through 2026 has refreshed her interior, updated onboard amenities, and addressed key mechanical systems.
Designed by renowned naval architect Tom Fexas, the Aleutian 72 features a modified deep-V hull developed for stability, responsive handling and efficiency across a broad range of cruising speeds. Solid fiberglass construction below the waterline, foam-cored topsides, flared hull sides and a protective keel reflect the practical design and craftsmanship that distinguish the Grand Banks pedigree.
The salon provides an inviting setting for relaxing or entertaining, complemented by rich wood cabinetry, generous windows and teak flooring. Interior improvements completed in 2023 included new window shades, refreshed ceiling lighting, reupholstered seating in the salon and pilothouse, new furniture, bedding and mattresses, and additional bookcase lighting. The main-level teak floors received 12 coats of varnish, while new rugs and updated lamps in the primary and VIP suites added further finishing touches. Sonos audio and Starlink connectivity bring modern convenience to the onboard experience.
Forward, the raised pilothouse combines a commanding helm position with an elevated dining area offering expansive views. A teak dining table and upholstered seating create a welcoming space for meals underway or at anchor. Updated galley countertops, installed in 2023, enhance the interior’s refreshed presentation.
Accommodations include three spacious staterooms, each with an en-suite head and separate shower. The full-beam primary suite offers generous living space, a large vanity, an expansive shower, and a walk-in cedar-lined closet. Custom beds and updated mattresses contribute to onboard comfort, while plumbing improvements include new fixtures installed in 2025 and updated plumbing in the primary suite. Separate washer and dryer units, recently rebuilt according to the owner’s notes, provide convenience for extended stays aboard.
The flybridge offers ample room for outdoor relaxation and entertaining, with seating arranged around twin teak tables. Access is available from the interior pilothouse staircase or the aft deck. New covers for the Stidd captain’s chairs were added in 2025, and the davit was rebuilt that same year. Exterior improvements also include refinished aft-deck and pilothouse tables, new aft-deck chairs in 2023, refreshed forward cushions in 2026, and a new aft-deck grill in 2026.
APRES SKI’s mechanical spaces were designed with service access in mind, including a spacious engine room accessible from both the cockpit and crew quarters. Owner-reported maintenance includes stabilizer service in 2023 and rebuilding of the bow and stern thrusters in 2025. The Caterpillar C18 engines have received new starters, with approximately 4,020 engine hours noted by the owner.
Work completed in 2026 includes:
- Bottom job, propeller balancing, and new rudder seals.
- Engine intercooler service, oil and filter changes, transmission-fluid service, and replacement impellers.
- Generator impeller replacement.
- New air-conditioning circulation pumps.
- Watermaker filter replacement.
- Fire-suppression system inspection.
- New anchor and repainting of nonskid deck areas.
Additional amenities include a watermaker and new domestic water pumps, supporting comfortable stays aboard.
With her spacious accommodations, refreshed interior, practical cruising features, and extensive owner-reported improvements, APRES SKI presents an appealing opportunity to enjoy the craftsmanship and comfort of a Grand Banks Aleutian 72.
